While the original games center on a night security guard trapped with murderous animatronics at the fictional Freddy Fazbear's Pizza—a restaurant reminiscent of Chuck E. Cheese and ShowBiz Pizza—the novels explore what happens in the wake of these terrifying encounters.

Launching the literary expansion, Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes serves as the inaugural novel, crafted by series creator Scott Cawthon alongside co-author Kira Breed-Wrisley. According to Cawthon, these books are designed to broaden the franchise's mythology while introducing human perspectives previously unexplored in the gaming experience.
