Order of Evan Tanner Books
The protagonist of Lawrence Block's crime fiction series, Evan Michael Tanner—known simply as Tanner—carries the lasting wounds of his Korean War service. Once an exemplary soldier, Tanner's life changed dramatically when shrapnel destroyed his sleeping quarters, leaving him permanently unable to sleep.
Tanner first appeared in 1966's The Thief Who Couldn't Sleep, launching what would become an eight-book series spanning over three decades until the final installment in 1998.
