Order of Ember Books

American author Jeanne DuPrau crafted this captivating young adult fantasy series spanning four novels. Set in a mysterious city shrouded in complete darkness—without sun, moon, or any natural illumination—the story revolves around a community entirely dependent on electric lighting. As their electrical system begins to deteriorate, the inhabitants face an increasingly dire situation.

DuPrau launched the series in 2003 with The City of Ember and brought it to completion with The Diamond of Darkhold. The books follow both their publication sequence and chronological story order. Additionally, this compelling quartet is currently being transformed into graphic novel format.
