American author Dorothy Garlock created the Dolan Brothers series, a collection of historical romance novels that also goes by the name Hearts series. Set against the backdrop of American history, these stories span from the early 1900s through the conclusion of World War II in 1945.

Garlock launched this beloved series in 1991 with Ribbon in the Sky, marking the beginning of what would become a compelling multi-book saga. After a seven-year gap, she returned to the series with With Hope in 1998, ultimately concluding the five-book collection with After the Parade in 2000.
