Dexter Morgan, the brainchild of American author Jeff Lindsay, is a fictional serial killer who captivated readers long before his television debut. While many fans know Dexter through Michael C. Hall's compelling portrayal in the Showtime series, the character first came to life in Lindsay's novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter.
The television adaptation drew its first season from Lindsay's inaugural book, and while the show eventually diverged to explore original storylines, it continued to incorporate elements from the literary source material throughout its run.
