Order of Coming Collapse Books

American author James Wesley Rawles created The Coming Collapse series, a collection of survivalist fiction novels set in a dystopian near future where global economic catastrophe strikes. The storyline follows citizens as they evacuate the Chicago metropolitan region and migrate to Bovill, Idaho, in the intermountain west. The series is alternately called the Patriots series, named after its inaugural book.

The genesis of this series traces back to 1990 when Rawles penned the initial novel as a 19-chapter work titled The Gray Nineties, which he released as shareware. Through subsequent revisions, the manuscript grew to 27 chapters under the name Triple Ought, then expanded further to 33 chapters as TEOTWAWKI: The End of the World as We Know It. Hunting House Publishers acquired the work in 1997, condensing it to 31 chapters and publishing it in 1998 as Patriots: Surviving the Coming Collapse—marking the novel's first official publication. The complete 33-chapter version has since been restored and made available. The series continues to expand with new releases.
