Order of Civil War Books
Newt Gingrich and William R. Forstchen's Civil War series presents compelling alternate history scenarios that explore pivotal moments of America's defining conflict. This collection of novels examines fascinating "what-if" questions, such as whether General Lee might have triumphed over Union forces at Gettysburg and ultimately secured Confederate victory in the war.
The series encompasses both the complete Gettysburg Trilogy and a standalone work titled The Battle of the Crater. Gingrich and Forstchen launched their Civil War saga in 2003 with Gettysburg, bringing the trilogy to its conclusion in 2005 with Never Call Retreat: Lee and Grant: The Final Victory. Six years later, in 2011, the authors expanded their series by collaborating with Albert S. Hanser on The Battle of the Crater.
