Order of Blood/Smoke Books

Canadian author Tanya Huff's Blood series blends urban fantasy with detective fiction, following the unlikely partnership between ex-police officer Vicki Nelson and vampire Henry Fitzroy. Nelson, nicknamed "Victory" due to her impressive investigative success rate, joins forces with Fitzroy—a historical romance writer who was once the bastard son of Henry VIII before his vampiric transformation—to combat supernatural dangers across Canada, primarily in Toronto, London, and Vancouver.

This compelling series launched in 1991 with Blood Price and concluded in 1997 with Blood Debt, later followed by the short story compilation Blood Bank in 2006. The books gained additional recognition through their television adaptation, Blood Ties, which broadcast on CBC and Lifetime networks.

Huff expanded this universe by spinning off Henry's apprentice Tony Foster into the Smoke series, beginning with Smoke and Shadows in 2004.
