Order of Barney Mysteries Books

British author Enid Blyton's Barney Mysteries series centers around a group of young mystery solvers. The stories initially focus on siblings Roger and Diana, along with their cousin Snubby and his dog Loony. The group expands when they encounter Barney, an older boy who earns his living at circuses and fairs. Barney travels with Miranda, a pampered monkey who clashes with Loony. Throughout the series, Barney searches for his lost father, following clues his mother shared with him before her death.

Blyton launched the Barney Mysteries in 1949 with The Rockingdown Mystery and wrapped up the series a decade later with The Ragamuffin Mystery in 1959, producing six books total. The series earned the nickname the 'R' Mysteries since every title starts with the letter 'R' (not counting 'the'). The books follow both publication and story chronology.

Series Overview: The Rockingdown Mystery kicks off Blyton's Barney Mysteries. During a holiday in Rockingdown Village, Roger, Diana, and Snubby befriend Barney, and the quartet discovers their shared passion for solving puzzles. Their investigation of the ancient Rockingdown Manor takes a sinister turn when mysterious noises echo from the cellar... and Barney suddenly vanishes. Can his three friends locate him before it's too late?
