Order of Bandy Papers Books

The Bandy Papers comprises a nine-book series of humorous war novels by English-Canadian author Donald Jack, chronicling the adventures of Canadian World War I fighter pilot Bartholomew Bandy. Standing over six feet tall with distinctive horse-like features and a squeaky voice, Bandy has an unfortunate knack for rubbing both people and animals the wrong way. Despite his social shortcomings, Jack's novels skillfully blend comedy and clever wordplay with remarkable technical and historical detail.

Launching in 1962 with Three Cheers for Me, the series spans over four decades, wrapping up with Stalin vs. Me in 2005. Jack crafted nine complete novels following Bandy's misadventures through wartime and beyond.

In That's Me in the Middle, the series' second installment, Bartholomew Bandy has earned his stripes as a flying ace. While his ground-based exploits invariably end in catastrophe, he proves lethal in aerial combat, downing numerous German aircraft in spectacular dogfights. Much to everyone's amazement, he achieves the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, opening doors to new social circles—including his fiancée's unforgettable relatives. As a convenient yet expendable war hero, Bandy stumbles through various perilous situations, wrestling with everything from the mysteries of English plumbing to a wedding night he'll never forget.
