Order of Alcatraz Books

American author Brandon Sanderson created the Alcatraz children's fantasy series, centering on Alcatraz Smedry, a foster child whose world changes when he receives a mysterious bag of sand through the mail—supposedly his inheritance from his parents. This inheritance is swiftly taken by the sinister Evil Librarians, launching his adventure.

While Scholastic, the series publisher, suggests these lighthearted books for readers aged 8-13, Sanderson himself believes they're best suited for children 10 and older. Each book spans approximately 300 pages and features large, reader-friendly print.

Sanderson launched the series in 2007 with Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians, with plans for a total of five books in the series. The publication order matches the chronological sequence of the story.
