Chris Hammer brings over three decades of journalistic expertise to his fiction writing career. This Australian author built an impressive media background, serving as chief political correspondent for The Bulletin, working as a senior political journalist for The Age, and contributing to SBS TV's Dateline program. His journalism took him around the globe as a foreign correspondent, covering stories across more than thirty countries spanning six continents, while also reporting extensively on Australian national politics for television, print, and magazine outlets.

Though Hammer had previously published non-fiction works, he made his novel debut with Scrublands. Following its publication, he made the transition from journalism to full-time fiction writing, dedicating himself entirely to crafting novels after his distinguished reporting career.
