Order of Charlotte Carter Books

Charlotte Carter served as the pseudonym for American novelist Charlotte Lobb (1935-2013), who crafted both mystery and romance fiction. Writing under multiple pen names including Charlotte Maclay and Charlotte Moore, she also worked professionally as a freelance editor and proofreader. Her life experiences spanned several countries, including the United States, France, North Africa, and Canada. She enjoyed a marriage lasting more than five decades and was mother to two daughters and grandmother to five.

Carter launched her publishing career in 1991 with the standalone work Personal Effects. Her bibliography includes books released in chronological order from that debut forward.

Among Carter's notable works, Rhode Island Red introduces readers to the Nanette Hayes mystery series. The story follows Nanette, a street saxophone player who refuses to let her boyfriend Walter's disapproval stop her from pursuing her passion, despite her Masters degree in French. Nanette's world becomes complicated when an undercover officer dies in her home, a mysterious stranger questions her about Charlie Parker, Walter pressures her toward marriage, and the enigmatic Rhode Island Red enters the picture.

Carter also contributed Tail of Two Hearts as the fifth installment in the Heart of Main Street series. While he's drawn to bookstore employee Vivian Duncan as potential wife material, Chase faces uncertainty when Vivian becomes foster mother to baby Theo.
