Catherine Chung is an American novelist best recognized for her acclaimed work *The Tenth Muse*. Growing up in various states including Illinois, New York, New Jersey, and Michigan, she developed an enduring passion for literature from an early age. After completing her mathematics degree at the University of Chicago, Chung spent several years working at a think tank in California before ultimately returning to her literary calling.

She pursued her MFA at Cornell University, where she fully committed to her writing path. Chung's literary achievements include receiving a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, earning a Director's Visitorship at Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study, and being recognized as a Granta New Voice. Her debut novel received an Honorable Mention for the prestigious PEN/Hemingway Award.
