Writing under the pseudonym Catherine Aird, English crime novelist Kinn Hamilton McIntosh has captivated mystery readers with her beloved Sloan and Crosby series, also known as The Calleshire Chronicles, which encompasses nearly her entire body of work. A Yorkshire native who was educated at Waverley School and Greenhead High School, Aird has established herself as a significant voice in British crime fiction.

Her impressive career spans over five decades, beginning with her 1966 debut novel The Religious Body and growing to include more than 20 published works. Aird's contributions to the genre have been recognized by her peers—she held the position of Chair of the Crime Writers' Association from 1990 to 1991. Beyond her literary achievements, she was honored as a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her dedicated service with the Girl Guides.

Currently residing in a Kent village close to Canterbury, Aird embraces the charm of rural English life that often colors her fictional settings.
