Order of Bruce Catton Books
Bruce Catton (1899-1978) was an American journalist and historian celebrated for his sweeping work on the American Civil War. Among his best-known titles are Mr. Lincoln’s Army, Glory Road, A Stillness at Appomattox, and his Centennial History trilogy, made up of The Coming Fury, Terrible Swift Sword, and Never Call Retreat. Readers and critics alike have praised his vivid, narrative-driven prose and the depth of research behind it, achievements that earned him both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award in 1954. Born in Petoskey, Michigan, Catton passed away in 1978.
