Blake Charlton creates science fiction and fantasy novels, most notably the acclaimed Spellwright series. His journey to becoming an author began with a personal challenge—dyslexia initially prevented him from reading, causing significant frustration during his childhood years. Everything changed in seventh grade when he discovered fantasy novels, secretly bringing them into study hall where he finally mastered the skill of reading.

This breakthrough opened doors to an impressive academic career. Charlton earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University before pursuing medical studies at Stanford. He currently practices as a senior resident physician specializing in internal medicine at the University of California San Francisco, balancing his medical career with his passion for writing.

Charlton embraces his dyslexia as part of his identity, viewing it with pride rather than shame. His literary career launched in 2010 with the publication of Spellwright, marking his debut as a novelist and introducing readers to the magical world that would define his series.
