Ben H. Winters is an American novelist best known for his acclaimed Last Policemen trilogy, which includes the Phillip K. Dick Award-winning novel Countdown City, recognized for Distinguished Science Fiction.

A Maryland native, Winters pursued his education at Washington University in St. Louis before embarking on a nomadic period that took him across various cities. He eventually made his home in California, where he lives with his wife, who works as a lawyer, and their children. Beyond his success as a novelist, Winters has established himself as a versatile playwright with an impressive range of theatrical works. His stage writing spans from productions designed for young audiences to the jukebox musical "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" and the provocatively titled adult drama "Slut."
