Order of Barbara Nadel Books
Barbara Nadel is an English writer who specializes in crime fiction and historical novels. Her literary portfolio includes the popular Inspector Ikmen series, along with the Francis Hancock and Hakim & Arnold series. Critics have dubbed her "The Donna Leon of Istanbul," drawing parallels between her writing approach and Leon's Venice-based mysteries, though Nadel's stories unfold against the rich backdrop of Turkey instead of Italy. Her deep connection to Turkish culture spans more than 25 years of regular visits to the country.
Born in London's East End, Nadel brings a diverse background to her writing. She has training as an actress and professional experience in mental health services before transitioning to full-time writing. She currently resides in the North of England.
Nadel launched her publishing career in 1999 with her debut novel Belshazzar's Daughter. Her talent for crafting compelling mysteries earned recognition in 2005 when she received the prestigious CWA Silver Dagger for Deadly Web, among other literary honors.
