Order of Audrey Niffenegger Books
Audrey Niffenegger is a versatile American writer and artist who works across multiple genres, crafting literary fiction, historical fiction, illustrated novels, and graphic novels. Beyond her writing career, she serves as a professor in Columbia College Chicago's MFA Creative Writing Program and is married to fellow creative Eddie Campbell, who works as both an artist and writer.
Niffenegger's artistic journey began in 1978 when she started creating prints under the guidance of William Wimmer. Her formal training took place at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and she went on to complete her MFA at Northwestern University, establishing herself as a skilled visual artist.
Her publishing career launched in 1986 with The Spinster, an illustrated novel that exemplified her unique approach to storytelling. In those early days, she personally printed and bound her works by hand, creating intimate editions of just ten copies each. This hands-on approach to bookmaking reflected her commitment to the craft of both visual and literary art.
Niffenegger achieved widespread recognition with her first full-length novel, The Time Traveler's Wife, published in 2003. The following list presents Audrey Niffenegger's published books in chronological order:
