Order of A.S. King Books
A.S. King writes compelling young adult fiction, though she didn't initially set out to target that market. Her early manuscripts followed characters from childhood through their adult years, making them challenging to categorize for publishers. This difficulty with classification created obstacles in getting her work published until an editor's request for "something weird" proved to be the breakthrough moment that launched her career.
King's creative process is refreshingly organic—rather than plotting out elaborate storylines, she begins with a character and allows their story to unfold naturally as she writes. This character-driven approach has become a hallmark of her work.
Before establishing herself in the literary world, King lived in Ireland for several years with her husband, where they took on the ambitious project of renovating a farm. During this time, she also contributed to her community by working in adult literacy programs.
King entered the publishing world in 2009 with her debut novel The Dust of 100 Dogs, marking the beginning of what would become a notable career in young adult literature.
