Order of Annie Proulx Books
Annie Proulx stands as one of America's most celebrated writers, crafting powerful literary fiction, short stories, and non-fiction works that have captivated readers worldwide. She gained international recognition for her short story "Brokeback Mountain," which became the basis for the critically acclaimed film that swept the Academy Awards, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes.
Born and raised in Maine, Proulx attended Deering High School in Portland before briefly studying at Colby College. She went on to complete her Bachelor's degree in History at the University of Vermont, followed by a Master's degree from Sir George Williams University (which later became Concordia University) in Montreal. Her life has been marked by movement across diverse landscapes—she called Vermont home for three decades before relocating to Wyoming and Newfoundland, and currently resides in Washington State. She is the mother of four children: three sons and one daughter.
Proulx launched her publishing career in 1982 with the non-fiction work "Great Grapes." She later transitioned to fiction with her debut collection "Heart Songs and Other Stories." The complete chronology of Annie Proulx's published works appears below, listed by original publication date:
