Order of Anne Glenconner Books
Lady Anne Glenconner served as Princess Margaret's Lady in Waiting from 1971 until the Princess passed away in 2002. Motivated by her frustration with unflattering portrayals of Princess Margaret, she penned her memoir "Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown" in 2019 to offer a more balanced perspective.
Born to Thomas W.E. Coke, 5th Earl of Leicester, and Elizabeth Mary (Yorke) Tennant, Countess of Leicester, Anne's connection to the royal family began early when she served as maid of honour at Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953. She married Lord Glenconner in 1956, and together they raised five children, though only three survive today. The couple famously developed the Caribbean island of Mustique into an exclusive retreat for celebrities and royalty, where Princess Margaret eventually established her own residence.
