Order of Ann M. Martin Books

Ann M. Martin is an American novelist best known for creating the enormously successful Baby Sitters Club book series. Her debut novel, Bummer Summer, was published in 1983 and earned the Children's Choice Award in 1985. Since then, she has maintained a steady career writing novels.

Martin spent her childhood and school years in Princeton, New Jersey, before heading to Smith College, a liberal arts institution for women. At Smith, she was influenced by the accomplished and intelligent women around her, who later served as inspiration for characters in her books. Following college, Martin worked as an educator, specifically with children who had special needs—an experience that would shape her approach to writing about young people. She published her debut work in 1983, followed by the first Baby Sitters Club installment in 1985. Martin personally authored thirty-five books in this beloved series.
