Ann Hood is a prolific American author whose diverse body of work spans novels, memoirs, and short fiction. This accomplished writer has penned fourteen novels alongside four memoirs, a collection of short stories, a ten-volume middle grade series, and a young adult book. Her literary contributions have graced the pages of prestigious publications including The Paris Review, Ploughshares, Tin House, and The New York Times.

A Rhode Island native from West Warwick, Hood pursued her education at the University of Rhode Island, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English, later continuing her studies in American Literature at New York University. Her path to full-time writing began during her career as a TWA flight attendant, when she started crafting her debut novel, Somewhere Off The Coast Of Maine, in 1983. This inaugural work reached readers in 1987, launching what would become an extensive and varied literary career.
