Watts brings authentic military expertise to his fiction, drawing from his decade of service as a naval officer and helicopter pilot following his 2003 graduation from the US Naval Academy. His diverse military experience includes flying dangerous counter-narcotic operations in the Eastern Pacific and anti-piracy missions near the Horn of Africa. He also served as a flight instructor in Pensacola, Florida, and managed critical ship and flight operations aboard a nuclear aircraft carrier during Middle East deployments until leaving the Navy in 2013.
