Her connection to Newport began through repeated visits to the charming city, where she was captivated by its gas-lit streets and cobblestone pathways. During one of these trips, she met her future husband and became part of a multi-generational Newport family. Through marriage, she gained access to a rich tapestry of local history, from centuries-old cemetery markers dating back to the 1600s to well-preserved colonial architecture. These historical treasures sparked her deep fascination with the past and infused her writing with the romantic allure that characterizes her novels.
