Order of Allan Mallinson Books
Allan Mallinson, born in Yorkshire in 1949, has carved out a distinctive literary niche through his acclaimed Matthew Hervey series, chronicling the adventures of a British cavalry officer in the 6th Light Dragoons.
Mallinson's path to authorship was anything but conventional. Originally pursuing studies for the Anglican priesthood, he interrupted his theological education in 1969 to embark on a distinguished military career. Beginning as a Second Lieutenant in the King's Own Royal Border Regiment, he steadily climbed the ranks over the following decades, reaching Major by 1981. His military service continued to flourish as he advanced to acting Colonel and subsequently Brigadier, ultimately culminating in his appointment as Military Attaché at the British Embassy in Rome.
This extensive military background has proven invaluable in crafting his historical fiction, bringing authentic detail and credible military expertise to his popular series featuring Matthew Hervey and the world of British cavalry operations.
