Order of Alka Joshi Books

Indian-American novelist Alka Joshi made her literary debut with The Henna Artist, which launched what would become a celebrated trilogy. This breakout novel earned recognition as a Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club selection and caught Hollywood's attention, leading to a screen adaptation deal.

Born in India's desert state of Rajasthan, Joshi relocated to America with her family in 1967. Her academic journey took her to Stanford University for her undergraduate degree, followed by graduate studies at the California College of Arts in San Francisco, where she completed her MFA. Before turning to fiction writing, Joshi spent three decades building and running her own advertising and marketing agency, bringing that wealth of professional experience to her eventual literary career with the publication of The Henna Artist.
