Order of Alison Weir Books
Alison Weir is a celebrated British writer who has devoted her entire literary career to exploring the fascinating world of the British monarchy through both historical non-fiction and fiction. Her extensive body of work covers an impressive range of royal figures, including Elizabeth I, Henry VIII, Mary, Queen of Scots, and Isabella of France, among many others. Weir has also delved into broader historical topics such as the British Royal Family Tree and the tumultuous period of the Wars of the Roses.
Weir's path to publication wasn't immediate – she dedicated four years during the 1970s to researching Henry VIII, producing a biography that publishers deemed too long for publication. Her persistence paid off when she finally broke into print in 1989 with Britain's Royal Families: The Complete Genealogy. Two years later, she successfully reworked her original Henry VIII research into The Six Wives of Henry VIII in 1991.
After establishing herself as a respected historian, Weir expanded into historical fiction in 2006 with Innocent Traitor, which told the story of Lady Jane Grey. She continued this fictional exploration of royal lives with subsequent novels featuring Elizabeth I and Eleanor of Aquitaine.
