Before transitioning to fiction writing, she spent more than 15 years as a journalist specializing in arts and entertainment coverage. Her career as a novelist achieved a notable milestone when her book Trashed became the inaugural title for NAL's Obsidian imprint.
Gaylin entered the publishing world in 2005 with Hide Your Eyes, her debut novel that garnered an Edgar Award nomination for Best First Novel. She makes her home in upstate New York, where she lives with her husband, young daughter, and old dog.
