Alexander Chee is an acclaimed American novelist whose diverse upbringing has shaped his literary voice. Born in Rhode Island, Chee's formative years were spent across an impressive geographic range—from South Korea and Maine to the Pacific islands of Kauai, Truk, and Guam. His educational journey took him through Wesleyan University and the prestigious Iowa Writers' Workshop.
Chee's literary talents have earned him numerous prestigious recognitions, including the Whiting Award in 2003, the NEA Fellowship in Fiction in 2004, and the Michener/Copernicus Fellowship Prize. He has also been honored with the Asian American Writers Workshop Literary Award, the Lambda Editor's Choice Prize, and a coveted residency at the MacDowell Colony.
As an educator, Chee has shared his expertise at several distinguished institutions, teaching at the New School University and his alma mater Wesleyan, while also serving as a Visiting Writer at Amherst College. He currently resides in Massachusetts.
