Order of Alan Bradley Books
Alan Bradley is a Canadian mystery novelist whose unconventional path to literary success began with solitary afternoons spent reading among tombstones during his teenage years rather than socializing with peers. For a quarter-century, he served as Director of Television Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan before making the bold decision to pursue writing full-time.
Bradley's creative journey took several turns, initially exploring screenwriting before the devastating 2003 Okanagan Mountain Park Fire—which destroyed homes in his neighborhood—inspired him to attempt memoir writing. His breakthrough came in 2007 when he penned just 15 pages featuring a character who would become Flavia de Luce for a writing contest, ultimately claiming victory.
Though Bradley first entered the publishing world in 1980 with his non-fiction work Ms. Holmes of Baker Street, he waited nearly three decades to see his debut novel in print. That patience paid off with The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, launching what would become his celebrated mystery series.
